During my time as a personal trainer, I have helped people from all walks of life: high school athletes, weekend warriors, stay-at-home moms, and grandparents. Although the clients all had different abilities and differents reasons for needing a personal trainer, they all had one common denominator: whether it was their first triathlon, the upcoming football season or getting up the stairs without losing their breath, they all needed a safe and effective exercise regiment to accomplish their goals.
After a thorough assessment, I begin each client on a basic routine based on their ability and goals. Only after the client has demonstrated sufficient strength and stability will I progress them, either with increased weight or the introduction of stability devices.
In addition to utilizing basic modalities (dumbbells and resistance bands) in my training sessions, I also like to implement the following tools, assuming the client is able to use them safely and efficiently:
- Kettlebells
- TRX
- Martial Arts
- CrossFit (adults and children)
- Olympic Lifting
